Trance is a focused state of heightened attention in which your mind becomes more receptive to beneficial suggestion. It's a natural condition experienced by everyone at some time or another - daydreaming is an example: you have reduced awareness of where you might be but you are focused on the vivid experience in your mind’s eye.
Reading a good book or becoming immersed in a movie are other examples. Becoming less aware of activity around you, you respond emotionally to the story. Although you might find yourself crying when you empathise with a character or startled by an unexpected event, you always remain in control.
